PostHeaderIcon Supertelly – the New Face of HDTV

HD TV is quickly becoming the norm rather than the luxury for many UK households (with 3D looming in the distance but still seeming a long way from mainstream), and the way Sky have packaged it up as Supertelly has been a huge success, creating for Sky a new product built from existing concepts. Supertelly is made up of the Sky+HD Box, the HD Pack (which costs £9.99 a month and gives you access to around 40 HD channels and rising) and your HD-ready TV – all of this adding up to a real brand coup for Sky, one which their competitors will have to work very hard to beat.

You can see the Supertelly logo, along with the striking image of the Sky+ HD Box, on billboards, newspaper ads and on the TV itself which is giving them a massive headstart in the HD race, but one card that Virgin and BT could play is the mobile phone angle. They both have a mobile offering of some sort which would enable them to come up with a package with one up on Sky by including a deal on your mobile bill in with your HD, broadband and landline, where Sky has no such arm. Perhaps it’s time for Sky to explore the mobile angle, in conjunction with Vodafone or another provider with no TV interest, in order to stay one step ahead.
